A Complete Guide to Spiritual Wellness

Your life situation is a direct reflection of your physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. Spiritual wellness encompasses the very depth of our wellbeing, and the more you understand it, the less resistance you will have on your path to inner peace.

Spiritual Wellness

As we all know life can become overwhelming at times. Struggles, hardships, and challenges are inevitable at any stage in our lives. At times, we are winning and thriving, and at other times, all we can do is survive the day. This is all part of the human experience and if you are feeling this way, you are not alone.

As a super sensitive empath, everyday life would be hard to navigate at times. I’ve grown and learned a lot through the years and I’ve reached an understanding of how spiritual wellness had to be my solid foundation for that growth to happen. I am here to guide you, to a place I call an inner safe space.

This post is all about the importance of spiritual wellness and all the ways you can achieve that state of being.

1. WHAT IS SPIRITUAL WELLNESS?

Usually when we think of wellness we think of our physical, emotional, social, and mental health. We often overlook the foundation of it all which is our connection to ourselves, the universe, or any greater power.

Everything is energy. You are made up of vibrational energy, and it is your responsibility to take care of this energy. Where your attention goes, your energy will flow, so awareness is key.

How we treat ourselves says a lot about the state of our awareness and spiritual wellbeing. So we need to make sure we are nurturing ourselves with kindness, respect, grace, and love.

When we have a strong sense of self, we have a strong connection with our inner essence. This allows us to experience life in a peaceful, creative, and spiritual way. We develop this spiritual relationship and connection with ourselves through understanding and taking care of our emotional wellness, mental well-being, and physical health.

2.  HAVING A WELLNESS IMBALANCE

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, drained, or simply burnt out? It’s more common today than ever before and it’s so easy for us to add the mom (or dad) guilt on top. We live in a hustle culture society where we are made to believe the busier we are, the better it is.

A lot of us put pressure on ourselves to keep up and keep going. It was only a matter of time before we felt the effects of overworking and chronic exhaustion. Energy becomes depleted, we are in a constant state of stress, and oh so unhappy. We reach a breaking point and in order for our bodies to survive, the nervous system puts us into fight-or-flight mode. Overtime the effects of fight-or-flight on our bodies will manifest into diseases, sicknesses, and overall poor mental, physical, and spiritual health.

Feeling lost, disconnected, unworthy and not enough? This is also more common today than ever before. It might have to do with the effects of your childhood trauma creeping up on you, or you might be constantly comparing yourself to everyone else on social media.

Our self confidence, self worth, and self esteem are a direct reflection of our relationship with ourselves. Are treating yourself like your #1 best friend? Are you talking to yourself with love and forgiveness or with anger and resentment? Awareness brings everything into perspective, and once you understand what’s wrong, you can begin to work on it.

4. HOW TO IMPROVE SPIRITUAL WELLNESS

Now to my favorite part! Digging deep within yourself to a new kind of depth. A depth that is limitless and not restricted by the human mind. There is where you will discover a stronger connection with yourself and the universe. The more you work on it, the stronger the connection will be.

  • Meditation and the Practice of Presence

Meditation is the absence of thoughts. When the mind is out of the way, you can experience higher states of being. The divine connection between you and the universe becomes stronger and inspiration comes effortlessly to you, bringing you into a state of flow.

Practicing presence is the simplest form of meditation. Imagine you are watching yourself on tv. Observing yourself from a different point of view opens space for mindfulness. You become focused on what you are doing and therefore bring presence into the activity. The less your mind is thinking the more present you can be.

Pay attention to your breathing. Being aware of your breathing is a powerful practice. It creates space for presence by shifting our attention away from the endless thought processes in the mind. When we focus on our breathing, we quiet our minds and allow space for stillness and awareness to happen. This practice connects us to our inner essence and helps deepen the connection within ourselves.

Another way to be present is to focus on 2 or 3 senses. Focus on the sounds you are hearing. Observe the space you are in and the objects in front of you. Bringing your attention to your senses allows you to not be thinking. The more you practice presence, the more natural it will come to you.

  • GIVING GRATITUDE

If you really sit down and list all the blessings in your life, you realize how fortunate you really are. It can be something as simple as the ability to get up and walk across the room or having all your 5 senses intact. Don’t take things like that for granted. There are people on this earth that don’t have those simple things and would do anything for them. Be thankful your car is working, your home is warm, your eyes can see, your body can move without pain. It’s things like that that we overlook and the moment we don’t have it, we understand its significance.

The act of giving gratitude has a HUGE impact on your well-being. Being grateful is backed by science and proven to create new neural pathways in the brain. You can literally rewire your mind! Focusing on the good lifts your mood and creates a more positive outlook on life. You become happier and attract more positivity into your life. What you appreciate, appreciates!

  • RAISE YOUR VIBRATION

Work with your own energy. Do things that make you happy. Listen and honor your body. Have love and compassion for yourself. Read a good book and listen to your favorite music. Do a phone fast to give yourself a break from energy-draining media. You can also spend time in nature and tap into a great source of high frequency energy.

Fueling your body with high vibrational foods is really important to your spiritual wellness. Clean and whole foods nourish and body and help give you a consistent flow of energy. Keeping your body hydrated is essential to your health. Water carries good high vibrational energy just like whole foods. All of these things allow you to higher your frequency and raise your vibration.
